Exploring World Showcase at Epcot: Part 9 : Norway at Night (Frozen Influences)

Continuing our tour around the World Showcase we finally made our way to Norway we were running out of time so basically just stopped to take a couple of pictures and check out the exhibit in the church

When I think Norway I think about Vikings.   The Main Attraction in Norway was the Maelstrom boat ride that took you through the myths of Norway.   This used to be one of the reasons that in all my previous trips I would start my journey around World Showcase on the Mexico side.   Well Maelstrom is in the process to being turned into a Frozen ride.  A lot of people were upset to see the Norway ride being turned into a Frozen attraction -but from Disney's point of view a ride based on a movie that made a billion dollars is a lot more interesting than weird trolls and a Norwegian oil platforms.   (I will not have a blog about Ulitmate Epcot -because the Frozen expansion is basically that and the inspiration for what else could be done in World Showcase.

I love the look for the buildings in Norway....they look even cooler at night.

The shop in Norway has traditional Norway fare with a heavy dose of Trolls and Vikings and once the new ride goes in I'm sure you will be able to find everything Frozen as well.

Food wise Norway features the popular Kringla Bakeri og Kafe that is like a Norwegian bakery and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall which has Princess character dining 

I love the look of the church in the Norway Pavilion

While Norway prepares itself for Frozen Fever---they currently have an exhibit in the Stave Church that features influences from Norway that made it into the film

Frozen Fun at DCA

Are you ready for some Frozen Fun??  

Well it has come to DCA whether you are ready or not.

Along with Olaf's Takeover of the parks comes the rest of the cast of Frozen.

With Giant signs visible  all the way down the Backlot area visitors are bombarded with Frozen Fun.

The Mad Tea Party ....(I was never a big fan since it replaced the much better Electronica) has been replaced itself by 

 Freeze the Night a Frozen themed dance party.

The Muppets are also gone to make way for  Wandering Oaken's Trading Post 

 (AKA the place where Disney can cash in on Frozen store)

And Anna and Elsa have taken over the Muppet Theater for a 

Sing-A-long 

So if your kids haven't stopped singing the songs from the movie  yet --you may want to stop by the old Muppet Theater to catch this cool little sing-a -long, which uses some cool digital backdrops.

Come on you all know the words by now.

(Whether you want to or not)

 The show mixes clips from the film with live actors in a shortened retelling of the film.

The finale included snow in the theater as Elsa belts out the signature song

Disney Animated Movie Review: #4 Frozen 9 out 10 and Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink

Frozen  2013   9 out of 10

We headed out over the Thanksgiving Holiday to check out the latest Disney animated adventure Frozen at Downtown Disney.  Frozen was very much in the same style and feel as Tangled in both its tone and look.  The story features a pair of sisters that are part of a royal family in the kingdom of Arendell.   Anna and Elsa were really close when they were young children until Elsa's magical powers that she couldn't control almost lead to Anna's life being in danger.    Years pass and it comes time for Elsa to be of age to become Queen which is where the story really starts.   Elsa's powers come to light and she flees her home leaving behind icy devastation.   The movie then focusing on Anna trying to find her sister and restore their home from its icy prison.   The movie features quick a few musical numbers that I could already imagine on stage.  The movie could easily be converted into a stage show.  It also has a few fun unexpected twists (and one at the end that I saw coming a mile away--but still loved).   It also has a couple of characters that you and your kids can fall in love with.....Olaf the silly comic relief Snowman and Sven the cute Reindeer.  Frozen is a great film, visually beautiful 
--the ice castle especially.   It is also and action packed and funny film.

Also at Downtown Disney why not continue the winter wonderland adventure with some Ice Skating at Olaf's  Frozen Ice Rink




If you have annual passes you can meet the princesses and catch the entertaining  animatronic  Olaf that interacts with guests waiting in line.

Until the next Disney Animated Feature......me and Olaf will just be hanging out.

Disneyland Picture of the Day: Frozen meet and greet

Located where the Tangled meet and greet used to be is a new Frozen meet and Greet.   Part of Fantasyland was blocked off the other day so we couldn't get a look at Olaf from the other side, but the silly little Snowman was entertaining those waiting in line to see the main characters from the film.   Here are a few quick pictures from the outside ----we will have to venture inside someday when the line     is shorter.

A Fun look at Frozen: Disney's upcoming animated feature

Disney just released this fun action packed,  comedy filled little 1st look at Frozen.  It   features a silly looking snowman that loses his carrot nose and battles with a giant reindeer across a frozen lake to retrieve it.   It has the feel of one of the great Scratch the squirrel  moments  from Ice Age and this first look would stand alone as a great short by itself.  The race for the carrot nose was fun to watch and I can't wait to see more from the movie.    Here is that trailer.
