Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #78 Entombed 2016 9 out of 10

Entombed  2016   9 out of 10

Mickey and Minnie go on an adventure in the one of the latest cartoon in the new Mickey Mouse cartoon series.  This cartoon is an action packed Indiana Jones style fun house ride.  Minnie ends up stumbling into the Treasure Room right off the bat like Daphne in Scooby Doo. She then proceeds to set off a bunch of booby traps that Mickey must negotiate in his search to find her and the treasure.   It is a fun action packed cartoon from start to finish.  The visuals inside the tomb brought me back to Raiders of the Lost Ark and the traps Mickey had to deal with were great.  At times it felt like the game Dragon's Lair with Mickey barely avoiding each trap.

The cartoon can be found on the Disney Channel and Disney Online.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #74 Dancevidaniya 2016 8 out of 10

DanceVidaniya 2016 8 out of 10

In the latest Mickey Mouse cartoon we head to Russia for some Russian Folk dancing.  Peg Leg Pete co-stars as a Russian dancer that as usual tries to steal Minnie away from Mickey Mouse.  This of course leads to a dance battle.  The Russian music and dancing work well together in this nearly wordless episode.  The dance battle was  visually entertaining as Mickey fights his way through the Russian dancers to save Minnie.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #73 Roughin It 8 out of 10 2016

Roughin It  2016 8 out of 10

Donald, Goofy and Mickey together again.  The cartoons that feature all three of them in main roles are always my favorite episodes.  In this latest adventure they go camping.

Mickey wants and old time camping experience. Donald has a completely different experience in mind.    Donald pulls up in his giant state of the art RV that brings the home to the forest.  While Donald and Goofy enjoy the luxury of the RV, Mickey ends up literally battling nature as he is mauled several times by the woodland creatures like a scene out of Revenant.   Eventually the Monster RV goes haywire and tries to pull a Thelma and Louise --and Mickey has to rescue them.

Like I mentioned before the cartoons that include Donald and Goofy tend to be the best in the series and this was no different.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #67 Wonders of the Deep 2015 9+ out of 10

Wonders of the Deep   2015 9+ out of 10

One of the latest Mickey Mouse cartoons really hit home for me. This cartoon stars the big three Mickey, Goofy and Donald and features a guest appearance Professor Ludwig Von Drake.  This cartoon features the gang on a Submarine Voyage (which hits home because when I worked at Disneyland I was a Submarine Voyage Captain).  The Professor takes them on a Voyage into the Deep Blue and all they see is a guppy at first until Mickey wants to go deeper to see the real mysteries of the deep.  And see the Mysteries of the Deep they do...This cartoon brings out the best of each cartoon as they search the deep ocean for mysteries .  We get to see Mickey's wide eyed wonderment.  We get to see Goofy --be well Goofy and Donald has one of his  classic temper tantrums.   The Professor gets accidentally ejected into the ocean and is swallowed by a Giant Clam.  Mickey and Donald go out to rescue him while Goofy messes with the equipment on the Sub.   Mickey and Donald think they encounter some Mermaids --but it turns out they were just hallucinations do to lack of oxygen.  Instead of Mermaids they find themselves face to face with a Kracken.   The cartoon was nearly perfect and had everything you could want in a Mickey cartoon.    I loved this cartoon.  Partly because of it's connection to the Submarine Voyage which I used to spend 8 hours a day driving around the lagoon.  I loved it mostly because of the fact that it gave all three Disney Stars a moment to shine like the old Mickey, Goofy and Donald cartoons.

This cartoon short was about 7 minutes...Twice as long as most of the cartoons in the series..

You can check it out on Disney Online or the Disney Channel.

"Extra, Extra Read all about it" Mickey Mouse on Buena Vista Street in DCA

"Extra, Extra  Read all about it"   The Streets are buzzing with news that a Mouse has arrived to takeover Hollywood on Buena Vista Street.

He has arrived to take apart in a celebration :
The Carthay Circle is all decked out for the occasion. Something about a 60th anniversary.

The Citizens of Buena Vista street are talking all about it.

We had a cameraman on the scene to capture the arrival of this Mouse.   Rumor has it that big things are going to happen for him in Hollywood.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #56 Working Stiff 2015 6 out of 10

Working Stiff 2015  6 out of 10

The latest in the new series of Mickey Mouse cartoons could quite possibly be the oddest one yet.  Mickey and Donald have to wake Goofy up for a job interview and when they are unable to they get the bright idea to drag his sleeping body to the interview and try and talk for him. Goofy has a nightmare in the middle of the interview and some bizarre stuff happens.  It was like watching a Mickey and Donald version of a Weekend at Bernie's - Goofy looks like he is dead and this cartoon was really strange and just average for this series of cartoons.

It can be found on the Disney Channel or Disney Online (in the videos section)

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #51 Mumbai Madness 6 out of 10

Mumbai Madness  2014  6 out of 10

Mickey Mouse goes Bollywood in this recent animated short cartoon as a taxi driver trying to drive an elephant to a mystic mountain.   The cartoon has a truly international flavor and a dance number as Mickey tries to entertain some cows out of the middle of the road.  It was not my of my favorites of this recent cartoon series.  The cartoons have ocassionally attempted to have an international flair touching on all cultures from around the world --sometimes at the expense of being entertaining and this Bollywood Mickey was an example of that.  I'd much rather see Mickey get his identity stolen by a Monkey that driving a taxi all over India.

As usual these cartoons can be found on Disney Online and the Disney Channel.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #50 Mickey Monkey 2014 8 out of 10

Mickey Monkey 2014  8 out of 10

Mickey Mouse is in for some Monkey Misadventures in his latest of the new cartoon shorts.  The Cartoon opens with what looks like the Swiss Family Treehouse and kicks off with Mickey and the gang getting ready to take a Jungle Cruise.  Problem is a Monkey steals Mickey's clothes and identity and Mickey has to spend the entire cartoon trying to get his identity back.  This cartoon features some great lines from Goofy and some cool animation as the gang treks down the jungle river in a boat straight out of Adventureland.  The cartoon also has a great throwback to Steamboat Willie with the Mickey Monkey at the helm. The animators of this cartoon series really know what they are doing with these fun cartoons at this point.  Goofy is slowly looking a little more like the Goofy I know and love and less (or maybe I'm just getting used to the animation).
I'm also personally love the Mickey Tikis from Mickey's Treehouse home after having just bought a Mickey Tiki necklace about a week ago.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #49 Space Walkies 2014 7 out of 10

Space Walkies  2014  7  out of 10

This latest Mickey Mouse Cartoon opens with Mickey piloting a rocket ship that is a throwback to the old Disneyland TWA Moonliner.  I love when they add this cool little nods to Disney and Disneyland history.

Anyway back to the cartoon.  Mickey is about to land his rocket ship but Pluto needs to go to the bathroom.  So Mickey ends up taking Pluto on the silliest space walk -space has ever seen.  Chip and Dale make a surprise cameo that leads Mickey and Pluto on a chase through space to the sounds of some Space Surf music that again is a throwback to the the song that used to play in Space Mountain.
They finally make it back to their ship in time to reenter the atmosphere and land right in Tomorrowland.
It was a good effort ---even with the weird subject matter of having to go to the bathroom.

It can be found on Disney online and the Disney Channel

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #46 Cable Car Chaos 2014 8+ out of 10

Cable Car Chaos  2014  8+ out of 10

Cable Car Chaos is one of the recent Mickey Mouse cartoons and is packed full of action and laughs.  Mickey and Minnie go and a trolley car in San Francisco to see the sights.  Mickey gets off in Chinatown and Minnie gets stuck on a runaway trolley which leads to a chase all over town as Mickey tries to catch up to the trolley to save her.  The action is thrilling and the gags are quality making for a fun Mickey and Minnie adventure.   Quote of the cartoon  "Dim sum ...Love Some"

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #45 Sailor Donald 2014 9 out of 10

Sailor Donald 2014 9 out of 10

After a few odd entries in the new Mickey Mouse cartoon series we get another gem.   Sailor Donald features Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald.   Daisy wants Donald to take them all sailing after all everyone knows that Donald wears a sailor suit.  Well they set sail and Donald reveals to Mickey that he doesn’t know how to sail a boat (Classic).  The entire cartoon as Mickey and Donald try desperately to keep them all afloat.  This was a fast paced and gag filled short adventure that was near perfect and had my step daughter laughing out loud.   I hadn’t laughed this much in the series since Potatoland.  This one is definitely worth checking out.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #44 Goofy's Grandma 2014 6 out of 10

Talk about an odd cartoon.
(Warning Spoilers)
This entire in the new Mickey Mouse cartoon series was definitely odd.    Goofy unloads his Grandma on Mickey’s house and then grandma causes a whole bunch of damage.  Mickey finally gets to his breaking point where it is revealed that Goofy’s Grandma is actually Goofy in disguise, because he is afraid of something at his house and wants to stay at Mickey’s as a result of this thing that he is scared of.

Goofy’s house is shown as some weird Bayou shack. (not sure what that is about probably sticking with his odd looks in this series of cartoons) –This series of cartoons definitely doesn’t have any continuity with previous cartoons as each cartoon seems to be in its own world ignoring character living arrangements for whatever story they want to tell at the moment.  It was an okay cartoon- but definitely not one of my favorites from the series.

The cartoon can be found on the Disney Channel and Disney Online

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #40 Fire Escape 2014 9 out of 10

Fire Escape  2014   9 out of 10

In this Mickey Mouse cartoon --Mickey has to try and save Minnie whose apartment is on fire.  It was a slap stick style fun adventure as Mickey ends up having to save the entire buildings worth of people  leading to some really funny comedic bits.  The best moments were his attempt to save the Shark babies and the Rabbit babies (which there a ton of).  He finally gets to Minnie to find out that she has just been cooking him a nice burnt meal.  The pacing and jokes in this short were excellent and it has a funny ending thanks to Goofy.

This cartoons can be seen on the Disney channel or Disney's official You tube page.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #37 The Third Wheel 9 out of 10

The Third Wheel   9 out of 10

Goofy shines in the latest Valentine's Day themed Mickey Mouse cartoon.  Mickey tries to take Minnie out for a romantic evening--- but Goofy---well Goofy goofs it up.  He doesn't get the hint that it isn't a group thing.   When he finally does get it he tries to over compensate and ends up messing things up even more.  I still don't like Goofy's look in this series of cartoons - but his character is really hitting its stride and like in "Potatoland" really is the star once again in this short.  Goofy's antic spell Valentine's Day disaster.

The cartoon can currently be found airing on the Disney Channel and Disney Online

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #36 Tapped Out 2014 8 out of 10

Tapped Out 2014   8 out of 10

The gang are at a Wrestling match watching a fearsome champion wrestler beat up on his opponent.  Mickey declares to Goofy that he would show that guy "what for" and when the wrestler challenges the audience Goofy (taking Mickey seriously)  decides to volunteer Mickey.  Donal Duck meanwhile is more concerned with his nachos.  It was a fun Mickey Mouse cartoon that pits Mickey in a David vs Goliath sort of battle. Somehow throughout this comic wrestling match Mickey comes out on top after some random help from Donald. I really liked this cartoon, but it was derivative of a classic Spongebob cartoon featuring wrestling which was better.

The cartoon can currently be found airing on the Disney Channel and Disney Online

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #33 Sleep Walkin 2013 9 out of 10

Sleep Walkin 2013  9 out of 10

The latest of the series of new Mickey Mouse cartoons features Mickey Mouse trying to help out his friend Goofy who is having trouble sleep walking at night.  Well it turns out Goofy is sleep running which leads Mickey on a series of crazy adventures all over town trying to keep him safe.  This cartoon is action packed and fun adventure in the spirit of the great Roger Rabbit short cartoons like Tummy Trouble which did this type of cartoon the best. I love that they keep coming out with new Mickey Mouse content.  It is a joy to see that a new episode has popped up on my DVR and it is great that a younger generation is being reintroduced to these classic characters.

The cartoon can currently be found airing on the Disney Channel and Disney Online

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #32 Get A Horse 2013 10 out of 10

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #32 Get A Horse  2013 10 out of 10

I absolutely loved the latest Mickey Mouse Cartoon that is currently out in theaters accompanying Frozen.    Mickey Mouse in "Get a Horse" is an instant classic that breaks ground while perfectly throwing back to Mickey's roots.   I should have seen in 3-D , but the available time slot for the family to see Frozen wasn't the 3-D version....Plus the price of admission for 4 to a 3-D  movie these days is insane.    Anyway the cartoon starts out like it is an old Mickey cartoon from the black and white cartoon era where Mickey got his start.  The story is about Peg-Leg Pete trying to basically kidnap Minnie of the back a on old wagon.  They battle back and forth over Minnie which ends up causing Mickey and his horse Horace to be thrown through the movie screen---which sets up the rest of the cartoon perfectly  as 3-D characters that seem to be in the theater in color battle with 2-D black and white characters stuck in the movie screen.   The cartoon was very entertaining and perfectly executed.  The gags in the cartoon were excellent and Pete really takes a beating as a result of Mickey and Horace's  intelligent choices in the situation.   I could totally see  " Get a Horse" as a 3-D in the park feature.  If you get a chance....See "Get a Horse "  in 3-D right away.
