Disneyland Picture of the day: The Castle

Here is a little Retro style look at the Castle.
The picture itself is from 2013.
With a little photo fun it looks like something from the 1950's

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #12 La Luna 7 out of 10 2011

La Luna  2011  7 out of 10

This Pixar animated short is a short, simple and sweet tale about a little boy learning from his grandpa and dad.  They have very strange job which is too row a boat out into the middle of the ocean and climb a ladder up to the moon in around to make the moon the shape it is for the evening.  Like I said it is simple and yet effective little short that captures a special feeling like nearly all Pixar shorts do.

This short premiered with Brave in the theaters and can be found on Pixar's Animated Shorts Volume 2 DVD.

DJ Dance and Drive in Carsland

A Fun little distraction in Carsland.   It isn't something worth waiting around or lining up for, but if it is about to happen and your little ones like to get there dance party on......stop and catch the cute little DJ car that rolls out at the  intersection of route 66 in Carsland.

Disneyland Picture of the Day: Luigi's Flying Tires

I finally got on the underwhelming Luigi's Flying Tires---which was actually not as bad as I thought it would be.   By no means is it thrilling or exciting and the space could definitely be used for something more interesting,  but the kids actually enjoyed it and isn't that the point after all.

Disney Animated Movie Review: #1 Wreck it Ralph 7 out of 10

Wreck it Ralph  2012    7 out of 10

Wreck it Ralph was a good, but not great Disney animated film.  The concept was great  (a Pixar quality concept)  basically borrowing the concept from Toy Story of what happens once the toys are left alone and taking us inside the world of video games after they are  turned of at the arcade at the end of the day.  The plot of a video game villain Wreck it Ralph  deciding that he doesn't really want to be a villain anymore is a good  strong storyline.  I guess I was just hoping for more with this good concept which takes Ralph into some other video game worlds that include a parody of all the first person shooter game and a Mario Cart type racing game.  Most of the film takes place in this Mario like world as Ralph ends up helping a character named Vanellope von Schweetz enter a race within the game.  The storyline and characters were all interesting and the film was good,  the problem for me is that after seeing such high concept Pixar movies like  Toy Story and  Monsters Inc do their concepts so perfectly ---my expectations are maybe to high.   I would have rather spent more time in the movie in the central station where all the videogame characters gather after the arcade has closed than in the candy coated Sugar Rush world.   I really enjoyed the cameos by the older video game characters and wish there had been more of that in the film.   So all in all it was a good fun animated movie--but just not great like most of the Pixar movies or Disney's recent  classic Tangled.

Disney Animated Short Reviews: #11 Paperman 9+ out of 10 2012

Paperman  9+ out of 10

This Academy award winning short cartoon is a beautiful black and white nearly perfect cartoon that seamlessly blends 2-D traditional animation and computer generated animation.  The story follows a hapless office worker as he falls for a women at the train station and tries to connect with her.   The story is a magically little romance told without words.  Destiny in the form of paper airplanes bring the 2 together a definite must see cartoon short.

Paperman can be found on the Wreck it Ralph DVD.
