Maleficent 4-D Sneak Peek and DCA

Currently at Disney's California Adventure in the Bug's Life theater is an awesome sneak peek of Maleficent.  I'm not an Angelina Jolie fan, but this is the film role she was meant to play.   The sneak preview was a great scene featuring a celebration of Aurora's birth which Maleficent crashes and in a delightfully evil way places her curse on Sleeping Beauty.  Then there a bunch of amazing looking scenes of a world that are along the lines of Avatar.   This movie looks visually stunning and I wish the whole film could be shown in this 4-D theater.   It looks like it should be a huge hit and I can't wait to see it.   I liked the sneak peek so much that I saw it twice.

Saving Mr. Banks 2013 8 out of 10

Saving Mr. Banks  2013  8 out of 10

Being a huge Disney fan I was really looking forward to this movie about the making of Mr. Poppins.

I was interested in seeing how Tom Hanks pulled off Walt and thought it would be interesting to get a behind the scenes look at the making of this classic film.  The movie was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be.   It had a cool retro feel and look and dove into the struggles of getting Mary Poppins to the screen.
All the actors were great in their roles.   Emma Thompson was excellent as P.L. Travers and Hanks did a good job playing Walt.

As a movie the story just wasn’t compelling enough though to be great.  I guess a story about the making of a better story ---can never really be as good as the classic movie it was made about.    The plot was really simple and there were no real surprises yet it was entertaining.

I’d recommend it to any true Walt Disney fans --- just for the behind the scenes look at how he got P.L Travers to agree to let him make such a classic and unforgettable film.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #40 Fire Escape 2014 9 out of 10

Fire Escape  2014   9 out of 10

In this Mickey Mouse cartoon --Mickey has to try and save Minnie whose apartment is on fire.  It was a slap stick style fun adventure as Mickey ends up having to save the entire buildings worth of people  leading to some really funny comedic bits.  The best moments were his attempt to save the Shark babies and the Rabbit babies (which there a ton of).  He finally gets to Minnie to find out that she has just been cooking him a nice burnt meal.  The pacing and jokes in this short were excellent and it has a funny ending thanks to Goofy.

This cartoons can be seen on the Disney channel or Disney's official You tube page.

Disney/Pixar Animated Short Reviews: #39 Adorable Couple 2014 7 out of 10

Adorable Couple   2014   7 out of 10

The latest of the new Mickey Mouse Cartoons has Mickey and Minnie having the perfect day because they are so in love with each other.   They encounter Donald and Daisy whose day isn't going as well.  Mickey and Minnie take it upon themselves to try and cheer the duck duo up.  It doesn't go so well until Mickey and Minnie attempt to have a fight.   They don't really know how to fight because everything turns out to be a happy thought.    It was a decent cartoon with an old timey song feel to it , but not one of my favorites in the series due to its simplistic nature. I did enjoy the static background art work of this particular cartoon.

It can be seen on the Disney channel or on Disney's  official you tube channel.
